DOJANG RULES and REGULATIONS

Please read the following CALSMA Dojang rules and regulations below:

Bow

We bow to show respect.

  • Students must always bow upon entering and leaving the dojang
  • Students must always bow when stepping on or off the mat area
  • Students must also bow to black belts, instructors and most especially, your Master

Yes Sir/Yes Ma’am

When responding to Instructors, Staff and Black Belt Students, address them using “Yes Sir” or “Yes Maam.

Attendance

Please be sure to arrive a few minutes early for class. If you are late for class, please kneel at the edge of the mat until the instructor acknowledges you to join the class. Students are encouraged to attend class regularly. Student are not to leave any class unless permitted by Instructors, Staff and Senior Black Belt students. Parents, please be sure to pick up your children immediately after class. CALSMA cannot be responsible for your children once their assigned class has ended.

UNIFORMS

Uniforms and belts must always be worn at all times during training sessions in the dojang. Keep your uniform clean at all times. Never face the Instructor Senior Black Belt students and the flag when fixing your uniform. CALSMA approved team jackets and CALSMA team t-shirts may be worn during class unless instructed that student must wear their dobok on a particular day.

SPARRING GEAR

At CALSMA TAEKWONDO, we require all students who are at the YELLOW BELT level and above to wear their full sparring gear when training. Using the proper attire and gear helps in equipping and implementing safety measures while training and competing.

Students should always bring all their sparring gear on sparring days. It is unsafe to spar without all your gear including the mouthpiece. Sparring gear may be purchased through CALSMA for uniformity and standardization.

PERSONAL BELONGINGS

Please be sure to store your shoes, socks, and other personal belongings in the cube storage available for use. CALSMA is not responsible for any personal items lost or stolen in the dojang. Please check the top right side of the cubbies for LOST and FOUND items.

JEWELRY

No jewelry should not be worn during class. CALSMA is not responsible for any missing jewelry or any jewelry left behind in the dojang. Please leave all valuables and jewelry at home.

PARENT SUPERVISION

Members and students are not allowed to stay in the dojang hours beyond (after or prior) their scheduled class time. California School of Martial Arts, its owners, volunteer and staff will not be liable for students who overstays in the dojang. Parents of children age 7 and under must remain for the duration of the class.

If you must leave, please make sure that you return before the class ends. If you are running late on picking up your child, please instruct them never to leave the dojang or not to go outside by themselves. Instructors, staff and volunteers can not keep on eye on student who steps outside of the Dojang.

If the student has a sibling in a different class times, the sibling must be dropped off or picked up in accordance to their proper class times.

RESPECT

The use of profanity, yelling and loud talking by students, parents, guardians and guests are not allowed in the dojang. Alcohol, drugs, smoking or chewing gum is not permitted in the dojang Black Belt students, Demo Team Athletes and high colored belt students are encouraged to help lower belts in any way of form regarding taekwondo.
