LIFE COACHING MAKE-UP ACTIVITY: INTEGRITY (9/25/2026)

This activity is for students who missed our in-person Life Coaching session on Integrity.

To receive credit for the missed Life Coaching class, please complete the assignment below based on your age group. This activity will help you understand what integrity means and how you can practice it at home, at school, at the dojang, and with your friends.

Please answer all required questions and follow the essay or video instructions for your age group. Your work should reflect your own thoughts, experiences, and understanding of integrity.

INTEGRITY

Doing the Right Thing Even When No One Is Watching

Integrity means being honest, taking responsibility for your actions, and choosing to do the right thing even when no one is watching.

Integrity is not something we practice only during Taekwondo. As martial artists, we should practice integrity at home, at school, at the dojang, and with our friends.

The questions below are designed to help you think about what integrity means and how you can practice it in your everyday life.

AGES 7 & BELOW: Video Assignment

Students age 7 and below will complete this Life Coaching assignment by recording a short video.

A parent or guardian may read the questions and help guide the student, but we want to hear the student’s own answers and ideas.

Video Length: Approximately 2–4 minutes

What Is Integrity?

Integrity at Home

  1. How can you show integrity at home?
  2. If you make a mess, break something, or do something wrong and nobody sees you, what should you do?
  3. What should you do when your parents ask you to do something, even if they are not watching?

Integrity at School

  1. How can you show integrity at school?
  2. What should you do if you accidentally do something wrong at school?
  3. What should you do if another student asks you to lie or cheat?

Integrity at the Dojang

  1. How can you show integrity during Taekwondo class?
  2. If your instructor tells you to do 10 kicks but isn’t watching you, how many should you do? Why?
  3. If you make a mistake during class and nobody sees it, what should you do?
  4. How should a good martial artist act even when Master or the instructors are not watching?

Integrity With Friends

  1. How can you show integrity with your friends?
  2. What would you do if your friend asked you to lie for them?
  3. What would you do if your friends wanted you to do something you knew was wrong?

Whether you choose the essay or video, you must answer ALL of the questions below.

Essay Instructions

  • Write a one-page essay using your answers to all of the questions above.
  • Do not write your essay as a numbered list of answers.
  • The questions are there to guide your writing. Connect your answers together so they create one complete essay.
  • Your essay should have a beginning, middle, and conclusion and should be written in your own words.

Video Instructions

  • Record a 3–5 minute video answering all of the questions.
  • A parent may read the questions or help remind you what to talk about, but the answers should come from you.
  • You do not need to memorize anything. Speak naturally and tell us what you think.

AGES 9–11: Two-Page Essay

Integrity: Doing What Is Right

Students ages 9–11 will write a minimum two-page essay.

Write a minimum two-page essay using your answers to ALL of the questions above.
Do not submit your assignment as a numbered question-and-answer sheet.
The questions are designed to guide your essay from one topic to the next:

Introduction → Home → School → Dojang → Friends → Conclusion

Answer the questions through complete paragraphs and connect your thoughts so your writing flows naturally.
Use examples from your own life whenever possible. We want to hear your thoughts, your experiences, and your own words.

You must address ALL of the questions below. The questions are arranged in an order that will help your answers flow naturally into an essay.

Paragraph 1: Understanding Integrity

  1. In your own words, what does integrity mean?
  2. Why is integrity more than simply telling the truth?
  3. Why does integrity matter when nobody is watching?
  4. How does having integrity affect whether other people can trust you?

Paragraph 2: Integrity at Home

  1. What responsibilities do you have at home?
  2. How do you show integrity when your parents are not watching or reminding you?
  3. What should you do if you make a mistake that your parents may never find out about?
  4. Why can admitting a mistake sometimes be difficult?
  5. How can taking responsibility for your actions build trust with your family?

Paragraph 3: Integrity at School

  1. What are some ways you can demonstrate integrity at school?
  2. What would you do if you had an opportunity to cheat on an assignment or test without getting caught?

Integrity: Who I Am When No One Is Watching

Students ages 12 and up will write a minimum two-page essay.

  2. If you had an opportunity to cheat and were certain you would not get caught, what would you do and why?
  3. What would you do if a close friend asked you to help them cheat or lie to a teacher?
  4. What would you do if doing the right thing could make you unpopular?
  5. How can your actions at school, online, and on social media affect your reputation and the way others trust you?

Paragraph 4: Integrity at the Dojang

  1. What should integrity look like in your Taekwondo training?
  2. How should you train when Master or your instructors are not directly watching you?
  3. If you are told to complete 50 repetitions and know nobody is counting, what would you do and why?
  4. What should you do if you make a mistake or break a rule and nobody notices?
  5. How should you respond to correction, losing, frustration, or failure?
  6. As you become a higher belt, how does your responsibility to demonstrate integrity change?
  7. What responsibility do higher belts have to set an example for younger or lower-ranking students?
